About UAC

Universal Aid for Children, Inc. (”UAC”) is a licensed, non-profit agency in service to children in the United States and third world countries for the past 31 years. UAC was founded by Lorri Kellogg, who serves as Executive Director Lorri Kellogg is a single adoptive parent of five daughters. The fifth daughter adopted October 3, 2001. Marilena, a specific needs child from Romania was under the legal guardianship of Lorri since 1993 when the child was five years old. UAC was chartered in the State of Florida as a non-profit organization on May 17, 1977 (Charter No.738910). The Agency received its federal exemption on August 14, 1979 under section 501 (c) (3) and 509 (a) (2) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal I.D. No. 59-1739205). UAC was first licensed as a child placing agency in November 1977. The adoption program started in January 1978. Universal Aid for Children, Incorporated has three primary services, Adoption, Medical/Aid Relief and Parent/Child Educational & Social Activities. UAC has been involved in the placement of more than 3000 children from 9 countries. Additionally, when time, resources and volunteers permit, the agency involves itself on state and federal levels, to advocate for the rights and needs of all children.

UAC has placed or assisted in the placement of more than 3000 children from around the world.

UAC works with child placement referrals directly, or networks with other agencies based in the United States or overseas. However, regardless of how a child is identified, UAC has the primary responsibility for the HOME STUDY evaluation and determination. In most cases, post placement supervision follows placement.

UAC sponsors two yearly awards. They are the KATHRYN LEHMAN WEINER ADVOCATE OF CHILDREN AWARD and the WILLIAM “BILL” LEHMAN OUTSTANDING YOUTH AWARD. These awards are given to one outstanding CITIZEN and one outstanding YOUTH in the community who demonstrating dedication to children in need.

Over the years, Universal Aid for Children has been featured on such radio and television shows as Larry King, Sally Jessy Rafael, Straight Talk, Morning Break, and publications such as the Ladies Home Journal, Working Mother Magazine, Miami Herald, Sun Sentinel, Palm Beach Post and Washington Post. UAC has been featured in news articles in most parts of the world through the Associated Press (AP), United Press International (UPI), & Reuters. A chapter was written about UAC by Pulitzer Prize author Edna Buchanan, in her book, “Never Let Them See You Cry.” UAC was also featured in a special five-part television series: ‘The Smallest Victims, anchored by Carmel Caferio of WSVN Channel 7 which received 3 Florida Emmy nominations. And featured in “Children of Romania” as well, on Fox Channel 13 in Tampa.

UAC was also written up in the United States Congressional Record . A declaration presented to the Congress by US Congressman William “Bill” Lehman in 1991.Good Service awards have been presented to UAC by the Governments of El Salvador and Romania.

UAC is extremely proud of the fact that many members of the Universal Aid for Children Board of Directors are adoptive parents. UAC is quite unique throughout the country in this sense.

These precious children have come from Romania, Ukraine, Vietnam, Thailand, Russia, El Salvador, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, India, Jamaica, Korea, Bulgaria, Nepal, Nigeria and China.

    The Medical Aid Program

    • Enlisting the volunteer services of a wide range of health care specialists to care for children in great need.
    • Collecting and distributing medical supplies. This includes everything from wheelchairs to bandages

    The Relief Program

    • Collecting clothing, shoes, food staples and other items to better the living conditions of children in our community and abroad.
    • Promoting a general sponsor program to assist orphanages
